Case in point: my home network. I have to acquire an IPv6 capable DSL router. This will give me connection to IPv6 world. I also have to figure out new firewall rules, new DNS config and services configuration, so I can be found from the outside for IPv6 hosts.
I already have all this for IPv4, so doing this duplicative work is really idiotic. If DJB's suggestion was followed, my various OSes would already have been upgraded to understand 16 byte long addresses and it would just work.
PS. And I am actually interested in making a transition. Many large companies don't see anything being done related to IPv6 for the next few years at least. Simply too much hassle for no immediate benefit.
