looking at the agenda for the meeting, the very first thing on the agenda should not have been there (agree on a common UI for installing software)
trying to define a common UI across all distros is very much the wrong thing to do. A UI that is good for a high-powered machine with a 1080P display is going to be horrible on a phone or tablet with a 800x600 (or less) display and vice versa. and when you consider server distros where you may only have a serial console, the idea of standardizing the UI is even sillier.
If the people who attended managed to reach agreement on this issue, it's a clear signal that they don't have a clue and should be ignored.
the fact that this was one of 4 items on the agenda indicates that whoever created the agenda should not be trusted in this area.

Your objections don't take into consideration the context. The UI that is being discussed is only for the desktop. Not for tablets of servers or whatever else.
