If you use the graphical version of the installer, you will be prompted for multiple things on one screen, in cases where they are independent (such as entering and confirming a password).
Entering the full name and then user name are still done as separate steps since the latter defaults to the first part of the full name.
BTW, this might be a good place to point out that, if you prefer an Ubuntu-style sudo for root, Squeeze will set that up if you do not enter a root password.
