These terms were used in MPL 1.1 to make distinctions between the creator of an MPL-licensed work and subsequent contributors; now all "Contributors" and "Contributions" are treated equally. Note that these distinctions were purely in matters of timing of the patent grants; otherwise, everyone was already treated the same, and MPL 2 merely makes that more clear. The mailing list archives have more details on this in this post and followups.
