He did state his justification for publishing it. So perhaps a better question is not whether you think it is 'Bad, bad, bad...', but what you think about his stated justification.

At least Theo should have asked for permission. He should have stated his intentions privately. His correspondent should have been given a chance to object and to give his arguments against the publication. I see no evidence that Theo has done it.

Bah, even if the correspondent had refused, Theo would still have published the email: he explains why in his email and his reasons are valid IMHO.
