I'm thinking SL (which has a decent rolling 6 alpha) is probably the better choice these days for the larger base of hardcore Centos users .. particularly those in HPC ..

thanks for the pointer. I'd completely forgotten about scientific linux. I have to more or less agree with the first comment. I love Cent, but it really seems difficult to see what they are up to, and plan accordingly. It's also nice to know that they put out a call for help, thanks LWN.
