Distribution quote of the week

1) Make Fedora redundant (in a good way). Several of my best bosses I have ever had all seemed to have the same philosophy of life: A 'system administrator/developer/SCM manager/etc's' primary goal was to make their-selves redundant as quickly as possible. This was for 3 reasons:

A) Raptors happen. Jobs and projects that have been automated, well documented, highly mentored are better able to handle extinction events.
B) A person should always be looking for something new and interesting to do.
C) The person was not important to the job. Making oneself critical for a job to go on meant that raptor problems made things fail horribly.

Some tasks suck, and if you don't make it easy for someone else to take over, you may just get stuck with it, leaving you the alternatives of quitting an otherwise fine job, or dealing with the sucky part.

I just want to say that was probably the worst worded quote of the week I have ever seen with run on sentences that don't make sense and keep going. I mean who does this person think he is... [thank you for who ever decided this made the week :)]

I like the second part of this (A/B/C).

What's vitally important is to recognize that implicit in "B" is that something new and interesting to do does not necessarily mean "at work"; in fact, my own experiences have shown me that an "at-work" setting is usually not personally "evolvable", and in all cases, I should make it my business to develop non-work-related hobbies and interests.

There IS "life after work"!

It's like Bus Number, except, with Raptors instead of busses. If you got eaten by a velociraptor, how much trouble would the project be in?

Probably it's a reference to xkcd, which has raptors as one of the running themes. E.g.
