In early June 2003, Kenny Tilton started asking newbies who posted to the
comp.lang.lisp newsgroup how they had run across Lisp. He later set up an
informal survey called "The Road to Lisp Survey" (RtLS), with web pages at
the CLiki site for collecting user stories.
More recently, Kenny has set up "The RtLS All-Kenny Page", in which he
groups taxonomies for breaking down the increasing number of stories,
currently over 40. The stories are not limited to newbies.
The Road to Lisp Survey questions ask when the user first tried Lisp, what
led him to try it, whether he did that out of unhappiness with other
languages, how far he has gotten with the study of Lisp, and what he thinks
of Lisp so far.
