POSIX states:
> If copying takes place between objects that overlap, the behavior is undefined.
The behaviour of Linux (and Unix) systems in this area are governed by POSIX, not a random manpage. (And in this case POSIX is aligned with ISO C, and even uses the same phrasing.)
