"database company" SAP Posted Jul 25, 2003 9:27 UTC (Fri) by jmshh (guest, #8257) [Link] While SAP does indeed have a database system ("SAP DB"), it is not a databasecompany. They even put their database system under the GPL and recently transfered support to MySQL AB because it is not their core business. The main product is the enterprise application software mySAP, while lots of customers still run the predecessor R/3. Nevertheless, SAP DB is one of the best open source SQL database systems, having some features like updateable join views not even in Oracle's product.
