powering the embedded revolution, today announced that MontaVista³ Linux³
Professional Edition 3.0 (Pro) will support Motorola Inc.¹s (NYSE: MOT)
MPC5200 embedded processor delivering 760 MIPS. This new processor,
announced today, is well suited for automotive telematics, gateways,
Internet-access devices, video detection and processing, industrial control,
and electronic/medical instrumentation, all of which will benefit from its
enhanced I/O, processing power, data throughput and service reliability.

Pro will also support Motorola¹s Lite5200 Evaluation Board (EVB), a compact
development platform for the evaluation and creation of systems based on the
high performance, low power, and low-cost MPC5200 processor. The Lite5200
EVB is ideal for OEMs wanting to develop their own hardware platforms with
the MPC5200.

³The MPC5200 processor has seen great success in the automotive market,²
said Bill Pfaff, vice president and director for Motorola¹s Digital Audio,
Radio & Telematics group. ³Besides extended temperature qualification and
long-term availability that are typical in this industry, new markets can
now enjoy its data transfer and processing power as well. The real-time
functionality, multi-process capabilities and rich networking provided by
the MontaVista Linux Professional Edition make this industry-leading
embedded operating system a perfect complement.²

MontaVista Linux Professional Edition is a complete embedded operating
system and cross development environment. This award-winning product
contains an impressive array of cross-development tools for system and
application development, unparalleled processor and board support, and

Motorola and MontaVista Software are together offering, once again, a very
cost effective high quality systems solution.²

About MPC5200
The MPC5200 is a highly integrated 760 MIPS embedded PowerPC processor that
consumes less than 850 milliwatts at 400 MHz. System throughput is enhanced
by a BestComm intelligent DMA unit that significantly offloads the
processor core from routine I/O tasks. The 400 MHz MPC603e core processes
760 Dhrystone 2.1 MIPS and is augmented by an on-chip double-precision
Floating Point Unit (FPU). An Integrated Double Data Rate (DDR) memory
controller further boosts data movement and a rich set of I/O makes the
processor suitable for a wide variety of applications.

About MontaVista Linux Professional Edition 3.0
This industry-leading comprehensive embedded operating system and cross
development environment is MontaVista Software¹s flagship product. It
provides a common source and binary platform across a broad range of
processor architectures. The Professional Edition includes a modern OS
featuring real-time functionality, multi-process capabilities, and
multi-threaded remote debugging, with extensive bundled software components
including rich networking. It boasts the industry¹s most comprehensive
embedded development package with broad support for embedded processor
architectures, CPU boards and software components. It targets more than 25
processors from nine industry-leading architectures.
