I don't understand. When last I heard, there was no GSM security at all. If I recall correctly, that is, the claim was that any apparent security had been deliberately compromised, by design, at every level of the stack. What is to analyze?

No, it's more like security was not a consideration when the protocol was designed. That, and also the fact that GSM was designed by a committee.

It's an open secret that GSM cells (if not networks) can be brought down by faulty devices.
