The Aurora SPARC Linux Project is proud to announce Build 0.3 (Phoenix) to the world. With the exception of Anaconda, Phoenix is a complete 7.3 based tree, including KDE3, Gnome 1.4, XFree86 4.2.0, a 2.4.18 kernel, and both gcc 2.96 & 3.1 compilers. The gcc3 compiler undoubtedly has bugs, I mostly included it so that people could do testing with it and expose those bugs. Jakub will more than likely have a new set of much nicer gcc3 packages in a week. The entire RPM/SRPM tree is signed with the Aurora GPG key. There have been significant improvements in the kernel, Xconfigurator, and gcc 2.96. Xconfigurator should work on almost every sparc with a video card, except for those with USB input devices (coming soon!). To the many many patient people who have helped get Aurora to where it is today, thank you. There is still much work to be done! If you can program, or test, or just expose bugs, please feel free to speak up on one of the mailing lists. Also, the Aurora SPARC Linux Project will have a booth at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo 2002, in San Francisco, CA, from August 13th - 15th. Come out and see us!
