My father runs Linux. So does my grandmother. Why not ? Utterly nontechnical people (like they both are) are going to use whatever someone else sets up and supports.

Linux makes it easier for me to set it up and support it from afar. ssh allows me to do anything as easily as if I was sitting in front of the machine itself.

As for the programs, it's true that the selection of programs is smaller. It's also true that this is completely irrelevant aslong as there's plenty of the programs they both use. (Email, web-browser, word-processor, spreadsheet)

Introduce YOUR grandmother to kmail today ! *grin*
