GUADEC: Danny O'Brien on privacy, encryption, and the desktop
Interesting article, although with one minor error:
In "the lesser-known Great English Firewall matches URLs to a list of child pornography sites", it should of course (at the very least) be "alleged child pornography sites".
These secret extrajudicial censorship lists contain few child pornography sites, if any. Instead, they are used to filter whatever their sponsoring organizations (e.g. Internet Watch Foundation or Save the Children Denmark) deem immoral, be it old album covers, perfectly legal porn sites, political websites critical of censorship, and (apparently) the occassional Australian dentists and Dutch transport companies.
