Are there any tools that will watch your outbound traffic and complain if it's not encrypted? maybe log where it was going and what was in it? This would hopefully improve awareness of what data is going outbound unencrypted. Yah, it wouldn't do anything about malware that talks to its homebase over encrypted channels, but it'd be a start...

Funnily enough, an app like that is exactly what I ended up discussing with a few people after the keynote. I think the tough problem is having a heuristic that can say "this is (probably) encrypted". Perhaps better to see it as a developer utility (a sort of netlint) rather than a user warning system.
Writing a doorman monitor for users, which would look for and complain about outgoing traffic would be a lower-hanging fruit.

As far as I remember TorK lists clear traffic and warns you about it.
