There is a secret much faster fork of GNU cat, called GNU mouse. Unfortunately FSF is not accepting patches because it is written by a collaborative team of dogs, cats and mice.

No gibbons, parrots or wombats were harmed by, or in any way involved with, the event.SS (who assumes that was left out because it was from last week)
