If you decide to base your file system on some algorithms then please use the original ones from proper academic papers. DO NOT modify the algorithms in solitude: this is very fragile thing! I considered it a while ago when trying to work out removing the BKL from this path. After much head banging and an overwhelming desire to go and get drunk instead I concluded it wasn't possible to tell by analysis.

So I ack this patch - it's the only way to find out.

Could the editors add a note when a QOTW comes from a discussion that's covered in an article below?

I often find these quotes fascinating and follow the links to see them in context, then find that the whole conversation is interesting and spend time clicking through the thread to try to figure out what's going on. Had I realized that Ted's and Edward's quotes were from discussions covered by LWN articles, I would have saved a lot of time!
