Seriously?

I would hope at a linux conference you would not be able to talk about 'freedom' and not actually mean 'free software' and get away with it.

I see what Mark's driving at though. For something like this, keeping its users' data free is surely significant, and Ubuntu One does this. (Of course, these days, so do its biggest competitors, all very non-free in the software sense.)
