FSF takes on Apple's App Store over GPL

One thing I don't understand: Why would anyone expect Apple to do anything other than remove the app from the app store? Changes to Apple's Terms of Service would take them and their legal beagles some time to work out, and in the meantime they'd be violating the GPL. The only choice Apple had was to remove the app from the app store, unless they wanted a lawsuit.
