A look at GNOME Shell

Not to be too negative, but the Gnome 3 release really seems to be shaping up to be the KDE4 of Gnome releases. Much potential, interesting new ideas, much needed code clean ups and cruft removal, but the first few Gnome 3 releases are going to be more or less useless. I hope the Gnome Panel and other fall backs will keep working at least at their current level for the next 2 years.
