Wait, does he, who messed up Linux audio to some extend now seriously try to replace upstart, which is still in the process of replacing init ?

Personally, I've had far more problems with upstart screwing up my boxen than I've had with pulseaudio. That's not to say pulseaudio is free from problems -- far from it. I still have applications preventing other apps from making noise, and that situation stays until the problematic app is killed. And volume control is an impenetrable mess now. But by and large, pulseaudio works. I can't say the same for upstart.

Sadly, I agree with that 100%. There is far too much going on behind the scenes on a modern Linux distribution, and seemingly little way to find out what, short of reading the code. We're in serious need of some improved documentation.
