Support for IDT Interprise Processor
MontaVista Linux Strengthens IDT Position in Enterprise and Access Markets
SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 30, 2003 ‹ IDT (Integrated Device Technology,
Inc.; Nasdaq: IDTI), a leading communications IC company, and MontaVista
Software, Inc., the company powering the embedded revolution, today
announced the extension of a partnership to provide Linux® support for the
IDT Interprise family of integrated communications processors. MontaVista®
Linux Professional Edition 3.0 supports the IDT 79EB438 evaluation board
that includes the IDT RC32438 Interprise PCI processor. The IDT RC32438
processor is ideal for communications applications within the enterprise and
access markets including desktop/workgroup switches, gateways, wireless
access points (WAPs) and virtual private network (VPN) equipment.
The availability of MontaVista Linux Professional Edition enables designers
utilizing the IDT RC32438 Interprise processor to customize the platform
for their targeted applications by developing on MontaVista Linux which
includes rich networking and hundreds of deployable utilities, libraries,
drivers and other run-time components. This latest offering builds on the
success of an earlier optimization of MontaVista Linux Professional Edition
2.1 to support the IDT 79S33x boards containing the IDT RC3233x Interprise
processors.

IDT RC32438 Interprise Processor and Interprise Portfolio of Processors.
The IDT RC32438 integrated communications processor is an industry-leading
system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution designed to offer optimal price/performance
for emerging embedded applications. The IDT RC32438 device provides up to
266 MHz of performance and addresses the high-bandwidth requirements of
managed Layer-2 and Layer-3 Ethernet switches, as well as small and medium
enterprise (SME) gateways and VPNs. Named the analogZONE Product of the
Year for 2002, the RC32438 processor incorporates a 32-bit MIPS CPU core
with a double data rate (DDR) memory controller, a 32-bit version 2.2
peripheral component interconnect (PCI) controller and two on-chip Ethernet
interfaces. The IDT RC32438 Interprise integrated communications processor
is available now. Pricing for the devices starts at $25 in 10,000-unit
quantities.
