Yes. The USA constitution is the dead horse being beaten, apparently.

Our Government in action....

Problem:
Our USA health care system is out of control with expenses and whatnot. The reason this is happenning is because health care institutions are evil capitalists and are rasing premiums in a ugodly rate.

Solution:
Part A) Make it illegal not to purchase health care insurance from those corporations. Part B) Require insurance companies to pay out compensation to people that have health problems while not on insurance.

Results:
PRIOR to health care reform bill: Your group insurance premiums are expected to double in the next couple years. Individual insurance premiums rise at similar rate.

AFTER the health care reform bill:
Your group insurance premums are expected to double in the next couple years. Individual insurance premiums will rise 13% immediately then double in the next couple years.

-----------------

Why this is happenning...

Imagine your living in a city with 100 people. There is only enough food to feed 80 people.

So the cost of food rises until 20 people cannot afford it anymore and they begin to starve.

Our solution to solve this problem is require everybody to purchase food insurance and raise the premiums until there is enough money in the system so that those 20 people can now afford to purchase food again.

Now everybody has enough food because of food insurance!! Yay; the system works!

----------------------

The USA's health care economic system is one of the biggest economic systems in the entire world. It is bigger then most of the GDP of the countries in Europe... combined.

In terms of socialized medacine our USA system is already HEAVILY socialized. For example.. The U.K. Government spends about 15.8% of it's revenue on health. France: 14.2%, Norway: 17.9%, Canada: 17.7%, etc etc etc.

In the USA the amount of government revenue that goes to socialized healthcare (remember this is all PRIOR to the bill being passed) is 18.5%. Our government already spends more, as a percentage of revenue, then pretty much any other country in terms of socialized medicine. The raw amount of money is staggering.

Nobody... NOBODY, in our country gets turned away from a hospital because they don't have health care insurance. Anybody that says otherwise is a lier. You can come in here illegally from Iran full of cancer and TB and our health care system will STILL take care of you. And it'll get paid, not by government, but by the other customers of the hospital.

What is really happenning is that the USA government is staging the largest take over of a major economy in all of human history. In terms of dollars, in terms of percentage, in terms of everything... This is the biggest power and money grab in all of human history. Nothing else comes close. All of this is more expensive then the Revolutionary war, WW1, WW2, Vienam War, Civil War, Iraq, etc etc... COMBINED... In terms of today's dollars.

The rules and regulations being set up make it impossible for insurance to ever work. It's just stupid to think it is. Yet they are still requiring you, by law, to pay money to these 'evil' corporations.

Why? (a person may ask)

Because these corporations are facing a economic crisis and this is how the Democrates are saving their friend's asses. Sure it looks like they are doing good now because they have huge profits... but the profits are not that impressive if you compare it to just the raw amount of cash flowing through system. Just trillions and trillions of dollars.

So this is how the government is going to solve this... make the whole concept of health care 'insurance' a joke, and then finance those companies through a combination of several involentary payment plans.

They make it illegal for you not to purchase insurance and then on top of that they are going to raise your taxes. This means that your effectively being taxed twice and all of this extra money is going to be filtered through the 'insurance companies'.

Effectively, with government backing, being a health care insurance company becomes a purely profitable enterprise. Pure profits, no Risk. If you need money they will just print out more money for you in addition to the fact that you can raise premiums and people are required by law to pay you. You stop being a insurance company and simply become a money handler. You take the premiums and taxes and pay them out to hospitals. And then you take a 2-5% cut out of money your handling.

This health care bill is not really designed to solve our health care crisis... it's designed to create billionares. And with the health care bill it puts the political party in power firmly in control of who gets to access to these huge profits. The only risk insurance companies face is if they fail to pay the correct level of respect and money to whatever political party is in power.

Everything your being told by the Government about this health care bill and what it's goals and methods are... is a _lie_.

I think you're on the wrong site. This site is about Linux.

There are many, many, other fine forums for mental mastrub discussion of this interesting subject. www.dailykos.com or www.redstate.com are both fine educational sites that provide a much more robust debate environment than this one.

drag,

Normally your posts are excellent and often amusing. This one is not. Keep
the politics on slashdot and the tech on lwn. That is what makes this site
great.

I thought the whole point of professionally-written articles, subscriber-only comments and editor discretion was to keep LWN from turning into Slashdot. Could this whole sub-thread (including my comment) be taken down, please? Thanks.

And why do you think your rant is of interest to us? Look it up, moron, this is LWN.net, not Slashdot.
