One of the pleasures of browsing the kernel source is to see the original (non-marketing) codenames for devices - 'Spock', the 'Happy Meal' and so on (sorry if these examples are ancient, it's been a long time since I have needed to build a kernel). Non-technical users are never going to see the source code anyway, so why worry about confusing them?

Exactly, I'm going to be happy when I can install a vanilla kernel on my seabass from now, the mutation can be loaded as a module and its temper can be set via debugfs.
