It is promising that headway is being made on that front as well, with GCM and GTK+; perhaps in a few release cycles Linux will have full color management out-of-the-box. See http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/ColorManagement targeted for the upcoming Fedora 13. I'm not holding my breath for RHEL6, but hopefully this will make it in there too.
