You have to have good reasons for solving this in kernel space, is what I mean. Not just because it
may involve a performance hit and adds some complexity, but also because you still
have to take appropriate measures in user space if you are serious about reserving an ephemeral
port for a specific process.
But sure, if the patch is not too intrusive, it can't really hurt. On somewhat recent Windows systems,
you actually can reserve ports. ;-)
