Has there been any discussion on switching to a "sudo" model? That way, trusted users could
simply supply their own password and the root password can stay with just root. (Granted, that's
not as much of a big deal anymore as more and more installs are single-user, but...)
FWIW, OSX uses this model (as does Vista, to a slightly lesser extent).
Maybe that's the fancy roles-based stuff that they didn't get around to finishing, as discussed in
the main article...
