Toward a smarter OOM killerToward a smarter OOM killerPosted Nov 5, 2009 13:45 UTC (Thu) by hppnq (subscriber, #14462)In reply to: Toward a smarter OOM killer by holstein Parent article: Toward a smarter OOM killer What could work for you, is to run a dummy process (allocate memory as you like) and have that killed first by the OOM (use Evgeniy Polyakov's patch), so it would 1) notify the administrator that the system has run into this problem, and 2) free up enough memory so something can actually be done about it. Just as an exercise, of course. ;-)
