|| ||Article, Thread
xf86-input-synaptics 1.2.0 is now available. This release works with the
recently released X server 1.7.0.
Only a few minor fixes went in since the snapshot, nothing overly exciting.
1.2.0 brings a few cleanups since the relase of 1.1, most notably the
complete removal of SHM configuration. It's properties only from now on,
which means that you'll need at least server 1.6 for run-time configuration.
We have new properties:
- "Synaptics Capabilities" - a read-only property to get some information
about the capabilities of the physical touchpad. Most notably - does it
support multiple fingers.
- "Synaptics Area" - allows to restrict the active area of the touchpad to
something less than the actual physical area.
- "Synaptics Pad Resolution" - provides input scaling for touchpads with
different resolutions on the horizontal and the vertical axis.
- "Synaptics Gestures" - Allows clients to enable or disable gestures.
Currently only for TapAndDrag.
There are still a few bugs open against the driver and even some feature
requests. My apologies to those reporters for not getting them in in time,
although we have effectively three maintainers looking at patches
(Christoph, Henrik, and me), we're all overloaded and I have to admit that
I'm the worst bottleneck right now. If you're interested in helping out with
the driver, please let me know and we'll figure out how we can improve on
the current situation.
