Toward a freer Android

With regards to mapping: I _love_ Gpsmid (gpsmid.sf.net), which is an OpenStreetMap based J2ME application, especially as it uses maps on the device, saving on connection fees. It should be possible to run this on Android, as both are java-ish. And it is open source and full of features...
