Misleading about SER

Parent article: LinuxCon: Building a secure IP telephony system

The article is misleading. Load balancing does not automatically increase latency. Media relaying is a separate software from SER which can be invoked only when NAT traversal is necessary. Asterisk when used with SER is good IVR, voicemail and gateway software where ZRTP does not make sense.

Misleading about SER

The project's assertion is that more feature-laden SIP servers inherently require more processing overhead, which in turn increases the risk of latency. And, as you point out, they do not claim that other SIP or PBX servers are *bad*, particularly if ZRTP/SRTP is not of concern. They only attempt to offer a fast and simple solution for their task of choice.
