Okay, here is a solution: Once you insert a storage volume, this thing mounts it automatically, and then lets a bunch of handler scripts do the job for you. Much like true unix way =) The daemon is written in python, all the handlers - in pure bash. It uses kdialog for interaction, however you can easily edit it not to be DE dependant. Just make sure you have python, dbus and hal around. For more Documentation see INSTALL.
