Parent article: A possible change of direction for Foresight Linux
I think (hope) that the discussion from my modest proposal helped focus discussion about Foresight Linux.
It became clear that there was interest in an import of RPMs from Fedora, not as a base OS for Foresight Linux, but as a completely independent OS, as a point of comparison. Therefore, I proposed "Boots, a Fedora Remix" as such an import, including suggested benefits to the Foresight Project and to Foresight Linux, and today the Foresight Council (of which I am not a member) today approved the proposal. Boots will not be the base OS for Foresight Linux, but will operate under the kind supervision of the Foresight Council.
In related news, if volunteers offer to do the necessary work, other operating systems may be similarly made available under the same umbrella, and the volunteers offering to do the work are welcome to propose to the Foresight Council the benefits to the Foresight project of having other OSes available in a similar fashion. Any such proposal will be considered at its own merits.
