Parent article: FSF to host a mini-summit on Women in Free Software
I think it would be great if more women would hang out here. I wanted to suggest something similar yesterday, but then I thought that this may be how it would be perceived and went back to doing other things.
I hope the summit will yield more fruitful results. Your criticism regarding LWN and its readers is very harsh, and frankly, unjust. Which you would hopefully agree with if you would actually hang out here. FWIW, I have been here for ten years and I make a point of alternating the use of "she" and "he".
There have been precious few comments in this thread that I thought made a lot of sense. It is not at all surprising that the sensible comments were also the nicest sounding ones.
In some weeks from now, there will be another article here, and again, there will be comments that are belittling, inaccurate, prejudiced, privileged and downright sexist. I hope you will join us again then, and that we can all have a normal conversation, at a normal tone, about this important topic.
