Sides of this issue you might not be considering by nix Parent article: FSF to host a mini-summit on Women in Free Software Whatever his issues are (I'm not really qualified to use the DSM) there is no question that he's worked very hard to cope. I've seen him in much more extreme situations than a wedding. He's met heads of state and is a public speaker on an almost daily basis. This doesn't mean his coping is perfect.
