THE KIND OF VICTORYS THAT LINUX /OPEN-SOURCE *NEEDS* TO DISMANTLE M$ AND THEIR SCO LACKEY!...

And only to think that the Linux kernal hasn't done very much specific to taylor it better for desktop role!... what could be achieved in the future?...

MS Win cheaper than Linux; Frankfurt signed MS contract.

The newspapers wrote that the estimated costs for the Linux deployment will be 30 Million Dollars opposed to the 27,x Million in Microsofts latest proposal. There have been rumors that Microsoft even reduced this bid by 7 Million during the last few days. (So MS would have been 2/3 of the price)
It has to be noted that the Techincal University of Munich (TUM) offerered to help migrating to Linux.
Microsoft Germany is located just outside of Munich. Munich is one of the biggest centres for IT in Europe, so this is a heavy loss for Microsoft.
The city of Frankfurt is reported to have signed a contract for Microsoft software on all their machines, probably recieving a similar discount by Microsoft.

Microsoft is willing to cut the price to the bone to make the deal, but they will then charge through the nose for upgrades once they've got you hooked.
