Not having to do an fsck after an unclean shutdown is not the same as not
being able to do an fsck at all even if one wanted to. File systems
can become
corrupted for various reasons other than sudden system crashes.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't
think I'd be happy with a file system for which there is no reasonable
fsck program.
