A flag day for Fedora's flags
A flag day for Fedora's flags
Back in March, the Fedora Powers That Be adopted a policy on images of flags (national and otherwise) shipped with Fedora packages. In May, they finally got around to announcing it. In general, such flags must be replaced with non-flag images or split out into a separate, optional "-flags" package. The policy, of course, is motivated by the desire to avoid the hassles which come once people get offended by specific flag images. The resulting discussion is interesting, revealing, among other things, that the GNOME project has a no-flags policy, while KDE has a specific "flags allowed" policy instead.
