Hello,

The Pulse 2 team[1] is proud to announce that version 1.2.1 of Pulse 2
is available for all.

Pulse 2 is an Open Source tool that simplifies application deployment,
inventory, and maintenance of an IT network. It has been designed to
handle from dozens of computers on a single site to 100 000+ computers
spread on many sites. This easy-to-use, safe and flexible solution lets
you :
       * Deploy new software and security updates on all your IT assets,
       * Perform software and hardware inventory,
       * Do remote diagnostics and remote management.

An enormous work has been undertaken to improve the user experience,
especially on the fluidity and ergonomics of the interface.

Other parts, however, earn some eagerly functions such as:
     - In the inventory module, the ability to split clients into logical
entities and to give users access to certain entities,
     - In the MSC module, a new proxy mode (multiple) to make the
deployment of packages over broadband link safer and quicker.

Full details on changes are available on the release notes page[2].

As usual, installation instructions and packages are available in the
Download section[3], and up-to-date documentations may be found in the
Documentation section[4]. Upgrade instructions are available on the
upgrade procedures page[5]. The Pulse 2 demo image[6] has also been
updated, amongst its evaluation guide.

Feel free to try it, use it, spread it ! Should you have any question or
remark about this release, don't hesitate to use the mailing lists[7].

Regards,
      The Pulse 2 team.

I'll bet it's not. :-)

(No matter how many digits they set the fields up for.)

It does. It is used in production in a 80000 machines French public service. It is also used in a #16000 machines environment, highly constrained, by people with no time for non working solutions.

It is the third architecture (LRS/Linbox Secure Control module which is used in French Ministère de l'Intérieur, Pulse 1 of Mandriva were the 2 first), and was designed to really handle huge installation. It is not a no limit software, but it tries to be.

Note : I work in Mandriva but not directly in Pulse2 team.

Anybody used this? How does it stack up against the whole spacewalk/et stuff coming out of RH?

But, how to manage 10 ubuntu machines and 10 windows machines then?

The windows machines are not important, if they get a bad experience, they might move to Ubuntu, making my job easier. ;-)
