IBM's "ThinkCentre" desktops

IBM has announced the availability of its new "ThinkCentre" line of desktop computers. For the most part, it looks like yet another announcement for yet another PC (albeit a nice-looking one), but the "M50" model is available with the Red Hat or SuSE distributions preinstalled. IBM has, until now, been unenthusiastic about the Linux desktop market, so these systems represent a bit of a shift in the company's strategy.

The "Think Centre" desktops do come with Linux preinstalled.
They are enhanced to run with SuSE and Red Hat. You cannot
get am M50 with Linux on the IB website.

That should "do not" come with Linux preinstalled.

Even so, it's a mark of IBM's commitment to Linux that it's mentioned so prominently in the
press release. Dell or HP wouldn't dare antagonize Microsoft on the desktop like that.
IBM is saying, "hey SCO, bite us."
