Mozilla probably has the most disciplined project management of any free software project. (See e. g.) Whether it's sufficient to the complexity of the project is harder to say.
A huge amount of that complexity is inherited; the trick is to go around and remove the giant piles of cruft underneath that were written on the "we're late, throw more developers at it" model, and do that while keeping up with the market's demand for new features and without destabilizing the existing functionality -- which is itself incredibly complex.
I dunno whether they'll pull it off (and to some extent it doesn't matter whether the current Mozilla codebase survives or not), but I've been pleasantly surprised at how well they've managed things so far. I wouldn't write them off yet.
