Perhaps you should read their documentation and look at their website. Most of your questions would be answered in about 15 minutes :)
In short, convirt is the new name of xenman. It is basicly equivalent to virt-manager and isn't even on the same level as oVirt. Last I remember (0.7 days) they didn't use libvirt and didn't have a good reason. It seemed very NIH. Arsalan and JD (of convirture) came to my employer and wanted us to buy their commercial product. It looks like some good stuff but their secret sauce wasn't quite what we were looking for.
That being said, I think they are doing a great job and convirt 1.0 looks like a fantastic tool. Competition is always healthy.
