You seem to imply this is an unimportant discussion. I see it differently: this is a _very_ important
topic, that is going to become more and more important as we see GNU/Linux systems going mainstream. We really need to figure out if we want to build usable, stable, modern systems, or if traditions matter that much, just for being traditions.
