Ext2 is plenty fast for most operations and if you can just throw away
everything (like Google
can) - it's not a bad choice. And if ext4 can not provide sane
guarantee (and yes, open/write/close/rename must be atomic no matter what
POSIX says) it's filesystem for nobody...
