debhelper third-party command option parsing transition
-------------------------------------------------------
The next upload of debhelper to unstable is planned soon, and it may
break certian third-party debhelper commands that use certian options.
Such commands need a small modification to keep the options working.
Maintainers of such commands should see the announcement mail[1] for
details.

initramfs-tools new Lenny features
----------------------------------
initramfs-tools can walk /sys/ for a smaller initramfs, also in some
circumstances you may get an even smaller initramfs. For all the news
read the blog post ?initramfs-tools new feature list?.[2]

bts-link supporting more bugtrackers
------------------------------------
bts-link[3] has been recently added support for the GForge/Fusionforge
bugtracker and Sourceforge's V2 tracker. This opens the possibility to
add `forwarded-to` attributes to track bugs in upstream projects hosted
on such forges, and be notified of bugs state changes.

Debian Data Export
------------------
Debian Data Export[4], a system to make it easy to export Debian
information, has been announced[5].
If you want to explore or download the data currently in DDE, you can go
to http://dde.debian.net/dde
If you maintain some data related to Debian, you are encouraged to have a
look: for simple datasets, publishing data is very simple[6], and it
makes your data easy to find and easy to access.

List of bugs blocking transitions
---------------------------------
Library transition season is open, and a lot of packages have to be
rebuilt. This means that some of them will FTBFS, or exhibit some other
problem that will prevent the transition from going forward.
A list of bugs that are blocking transitions is now kept in the BTS via
usertags (user:debian-release@lists.debian.org, tag:transition-blocker):
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?users=debian...
Or, with a nicer URL:
http://snipr.com/transition-blockers
The NMU rules for this set of bugs have been relaxed: packages are
elegible for 0-day uploads if the bug is more than 3 days old. Just be
civil and helpful, and try to honour the wishes of the maintainer.
