LinuxForce Expands Partnership with The Franklin Institute
Philadelphia, PA - 3 February 2009 - LinuxForce, Inc., a leading
Linux-based technology services firm and a thought-leader in the Linux
and open-source technology spaces, today announced a major expansion
of their technology partnership with The Franklin Institute. With this
expansion, LinuxForce will be responsible for the maintenance, monitoring
and security of three of The Franklin's key information systems including
ten virtual servers. The new agreement is the culmination of a series of
successful consulting projects during which LinuxForce assisted museum
staff with the administration of these systems and demonstrated their
ability to meet The Franklin's critical business needs.
Since Spring 2008, LinuxForce has supported The Franklin Institute's
Information Technology Services department with a "comprehensive
anticipatory" approach to systems administration that is uniquely
proactive in implementation and monitoring of Linux systems. In addition,
this summer will mark the tenth anniversary of LinuxForce's relationship
with the museum's Educational Technology & Integrated Learning Programs
department. LinuxForce's pioneering comprehensive anticipatory
methodology at The Franklin integrates the LinuxForce Monitoring(SM)
and Remote Responder(SM) services plus the power of Linux to ensure
maximum system reliability while The Franklin maintains a low total cost
of ownership.
According to the terms of the expansion agreement, LinuxForce will
continue to be The Franklin Institute's support services provider of
choice for both Linux and open-source systems and software. "After
a decade of experience maintaining Linux systems for The Franklin's
Educational Technology Programs, we are thrilled that their IT department
has now entrusted us with the management of several more Linux systems.
We will employ our signature comprehensive anticipatory systems
administration approach to ensure that these systems continue to run
reliably in support of The Franklin's business objectives," commented
CJ Fearnley, President and CEO of LinuxForce. "We know that the proven
results of the eternally regenerative software built into the Debian/GNU
and Ubuntu Linux systems that we support will provide a flexible
infrastructure upon which The Franklin can build their web services."
The Franklin Institute has chosen to broaden its relationship with
LinuxForce for several reasons, including LinuxForce's proven Linux
expertise and attentive customer service. "LinuxForce is in tune with
our particular needs and challenges," according to Paul Ricchiuti, The
Franklin's Vice President of Information Technology. "They understand
budgetary constraints for support services and the need to use resources
very efficiently. They took the time to really understand The Franklin,
our processes, our employees and our culture. Additionally, access to
their staff and resources is always fast, efficient and personalized.
Their proverbial office door is always open."
"LinuxForce definitely takes a cohesive approach to understanding our
business and organization. They assist us in developing a customized
plan for our technology and web needs, be it a long-range strategy
or a specific project," continued Ricchiuti. "LinuxForce has been
instrumental in helping The Franklin set up best practices to get the
most out of our investment in information technology services."
This managed services agreement is LinuxForce's first extended agreement
with The Franklin Institute's Information Technology Services department.
