If you permit an editorial suggestion: At least the first two paragraphs seem entirely untypical for the general style of LWN. Maybe LWN could encourage its authors more to take a closer look at how the "house style" differs from that of other publications covering free software.

People have their own styles. I don't think imitating the staff should be a prerequisite for writing an article.

One of the things that always impressed me about LWN was the consistency
of the house style. If you want to publish something in a different style,
very well, but why use LWN as your platform?
