Parent article: Call For Articles - Cool Projects (Linux Journal)

Well, my project isn't long enough for an article in Linux Journal but I am making custom Edubuntu Live DVDs for my young relatives.

Ingredients:
1. Remastersys (http://www.remastersys.klikit-linux.com/)
Creates a live DVD or CD in a few clicks

2. Ubuntu + Edubuntu Addon CD http://edubuntu.org/
Edubuntu used to be a full distribution but ran out of space on a single CD.
Now it is shipped as an add on CD to the standard Ubuntu install.

3. Kid safe internet filtering burned in via OpenDNS

4. Flash/Java/VLC/Real preinstalled

5. Good internet links:
Nasa Kids - http://kids.msfc.nasa.gov/
Switch Zoo - http://www.switchzoo.com/
Ted Tunes - http://ksnn.larc.nasa.gov/home.html
Questionaut - THIS ROCKS! - http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks2bitesize/games/questionaut/

6. Great Kids programs:
Childsplay
GCompris
Tux Paint
Tux Maths
Phun - doesn't work to well on my Intel graphics card :-(

Any suggestions?

Depending upon their age, they may like PBS Kids - http://pbskids.org.
