Fedora 8 has about a hundred (and increasing) Python scripts in /usr/bin and /usr/sbin, and exactly zero ruby scripts. For all practical purposes, Ruby can be defined as "the scripting language that the Rails framework uses".

In FreeBSD I remember 'portupgrade' tool is written in Ruby.
